For Life-Threatening Emergencies Call 999

Throughout the fostering assessment process, both you and our Social Worker will discuss your skills, qualities and previous experience to identify the children you would be most suitable to look after.

They will take references from those in your family and others that know you well to ensure the children will be well cared for.

Potential Foster Carers are also required to have a Criminal Records Bureau ( CRB ) check to work with children in care.

You will also have to have a medical and take part in some training. The Social Worker's Form F report will be discussed with you and then taken to the Fostering Panel.

The Independent Fostering Panel is made up of independent people who will read the report, meet you, ask you and the assessor questions and then make a recommendation to Five Rivers to accept our recommendations as a potential Foster Carer.
